Is beer the only alcoholic drink that gives you a beer gut?

Or is there more to it such as the food that you may eat while drinking beer? Some people crave fattening food after drinking a six pack or two.

Is there other alcoholic drinks that does not give you a pot belly?|||A beer gut isn't the result of drinking a lot of beer. It comes from eating and drinking without excercising. THose who drinki a six pack a day generally don't excercise much.

It's a coincidence.|||I rather thing beer is about the only one that does and can give the Pot Bellys. How ever it's the amount one drinks that gives the Belly.

Also one tends to feel extremely hungary because of it as well.

It's one of the most easiest of alcoholic drinks.|||Absolutely not|||I'm afraid that the "beer gut" you are referring to does not only occur in people that drink large quantities of beer. It will occur in anyone that consumes more calories than their body needs. There are tons of people who don't drink at all that have a "beer gut" just from eating too many calories or drinking to many sodas.

However, those individuals who drink lots of beer are most likely going to have a beer gut, because beer contains a plethora of calories.

Anyone have a recipe for gluten free beer bread?

I just picked up some gluten free beer at the supermarket made by AB. God bless them! Very good stuff. Now I want to try making beer bread with it. Since I've been diagnosed with celiac, I can't use regulour wheat flour. Can anyone help?|||Found this recipe and tried it today. It works!

Gluten Free Beer Bread

Combine in a large bowl:

3 cups gluten free flour*

3 tablespoons sugar

3陆 teaspoons baking powder

1陆 teaspoons xanthan gum

1 teaspoon salt

Add to large bowl and stir well:

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 gluten free beer (12 oz.)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour batter into a greased or parchment lined loaf pan. Bake for 50-55 minutes. Yield: one robust loaf

*A combination of gluten-free flours usually gives the best result. Pick up a ready to use flour blend like Bob's Red Mill or use your favorite all-purpose mix. Keep it basic with a rice flour blend (2 cups brown rice flour, 3/4 cup potato starch, 1/4 cup tapioca starch) or spice it up with some mesquite meal. Great with gluten free oat flour, too.|||Here's the recipe:

3 cups flour (I used 2 cups of Bob's Red Mill Homemade Wonderful gluten-free Bread Mix and 1 cup of white rice flour)

3 teas. baking powder (omit if using self rising flour)

1 teas. salt (omit if using self rising flour)

1/4 cup sugar

1 12 oz can beer (I used lemon lime soda instead)

1/2 cup melted butter (I used clarified butter)

1. Preheat oven to 375

2. Mix dry ingredients and soda

3. Pour into greased loaf pan.

4. Pour melted butter over top.

5. Bake about 55 minutes, remove from pan and let cool at least 15 minutes.

Do not add yeast to this. No kneading required.

If anyone has a better substitiute for the rice flour let me know. I think maybe 3 cups of the Homemade Wonderful bread mix might make a better loaf. I bought it because it already has the Xanthan Gum in it (didn't want to pay $11. for a bag of that! )

If you want to make this with regular flour and beer, there's a recipe on allrecipes.com that is really good (look for the recipe with 5 stars).|||Beer Batter Bread Gluten-Free

Recipe

1 cup oat flour

1 cup millet flour

1 cup sorgham flour

1 Tb granulated sugar

1 tsp salt

1 Tb baking powder

14 ounces GF beer or 12 oz beer %26amp; 2 oz water

1 1/4 kuzu powder dissolved in the 2 oz of water

Optional Egg Glaze: 1 beaten egg %26amp; 2 tsp water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 4 x 8 loaf pan with parchment paper. Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add the dissolved kuzu and water to the beer. Then pour both liquids into the dry ingredients. Stir only enough to blend and lumps are okay. The batter will be thick. Pour into parchment lined pan and bake for approximately 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.

This bread is better to eat within the first couple of days. After the third day the after taste becomes stronger until it is almost as strong as the aged Emmenthaler cheese.

Should Obama have a beer conference to stop the bickering and bring the country together?

He's been compared to Lincoln, who was president of ALL the people and brought us together.

The cities of L.A., San Francisco, and even the state of Calif are planning to boycott for ideological reasons, the state of Arizona. Should Obama have a beer conference to minimize the differences, or will he play the partisan politician, take advantage of a crisis, and push for even more division?|||obama is the worst thing to happen in America, cant wait for 2012 or even before|||No and...ummm...Lincoln kept the country together through reluctant use of force. Bad comparison.|||Wouldn't his resignation from office be easier?|||Actually he should do what Lincoln did, let them fight it out.|||Boycott only hurts the innocent wage-earner and also the deceived myrmidons that carry out instruction of the evils that hate America! I will hazard a guess that Obama will stall on giving his take on it until he determines the momentum it gains or loses!|||I prefer he keep his mouth shut. Every time he talks he stirs up trouble, or it costs me money.|||Obama WANTS to divide us. Look at how things are out of control. He is instigating it.|||Why not? The first beer summit was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Might as well have another one since the first one went so well.

What is the average price for a beer in a pub in America and what size is the beer?

As I'm in Melbourne, Australia. Can you specify if your prices are in US dollars?

At pubs in Melbourne the beer is roughly $US2.70 for a 275ml glass.|||Man, those people answering this question above have no idea what a real beer is. $2 US dollars for piss water in a small town, but if you are headed to a major city (New York, Chicago, LA) and want a decent beer, its around $5-$7 a pint.|||IN THE PUB BEER COST $1.00 FOR A MUG ON TAP IN HAPPY HOUR. ABOUT $I.50 TO $2.00 A MUG AFTER HAPPY HOUR|||for a 20 oz mug it is roughly $3 unless you go during happy hour then they can be as low as a dollar a mug cheers i live near washington dc|||At my yacht club we charge $1.50 for a 12 oz can of Bud, $1.75 for a 12 oz bottle of Bud, $3.00 for 12oz Heineken,

or other non domestic beers. We are in Brooklyn, New York.|||well around here it is anywhere from $2-$4 depending on where you go for a 12 oz. bottle.|||2 bucks a bottle depending on the bar. Yes we call them bars not pubs...not trying to sound mean but if i ever go to melbourne i will call them pubs.|||A pint at a restaurant will cost about $2. Bottle about $2.50 unless imported about $3.50. Prices per bottle at a cluib is about $3 and at a strip club is like $7.|||I m not sure what it is since i don't live in america and even if I did I wouldn't go to pubs and drink beer, man.

How many pints of beer should a pitcher pour?

Assuming standard sized American bar pitcher, how many ounces or pints of beer does it hold? 5 pints to a pitcher? A pint is larger than a 12 oz can/bottle right?

Sometimes it pays to do the math when comparing prices at a bar.|||The standard bar pitcher is 64 ounces, which would give you 4 pints of beer, but this is not always the standard. Some bars have gone with a 60 oz, down to a 48 oz pitcher, yet it still looks like a full standard pitcher. Ask the bartender what size pitchers they use to determine which would be the better deal.|||4 or 5|||These are the capacities of barware (filled to the ''brim'').

Standard beer glass - 10 ounces

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

Standard mug - 10 ounces

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

A standard ''shot'' is 1 1/2 ounces, this one holds 1/2 that (7/8 of an ounce).

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

You complain, so the barmaid fills one of these babies. You still get cheated (1 ounce).

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

''Hourglass Pint''. Not quite, only holds 15 ounces at the brim (a pint is 16 ounces).

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

''Large Mug'', it's all glass. Holds 12 ounces.

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

And the pitcher, some places sell it as a half gallon, not a chance. All of these hold 60 ounces. That's 5 12 ounce beers, 1 short of a six pack.

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>

http://www.acemart.com/merchant.mv?Scree鈥?/a>|||I think about 4 pints.|||4-5 depending on your pour. Remember, contrary to what most people believe a little head on your beer is a good thing. It prevent the oxygen from getting at it and changing the taste.|||A pint is 16 ounces. But you don't usually get a full pint in a bar. With the head, you'll get about 14.5 ounces.

My experience is that a pitcher holds about 4 3/4 12 ounce glasses, which would be about 3,6 pints.

How long will beer last in a can?

I have a small collection of unopened 'collector' beer that intend to keep for a very long time. How long will it last inside the can before the can will begin to detoriate and leek beer? Obviously were talking about a standard tin can here filled with beer.|||Depends on the alcohol level. Most beers above 8% mellow and improve with age. (the flavors blend) 3.25-6% are meant to be drank fresh.

Personally I would not drink a can of " standard 5% " beer that was older then 2 years and generally 1 year is the max. It will not leak for at least 20 years and likely 75.|||Most mass-produced beer is intended to be consumed fresh. There is usually a freshness date somewhere on the can. After the freshness date, the beer's flavor will start to deteriorate within a few months. It will not be dangerous to drink, but it will taste like wet cardboard. Yuck.|||Leek? I hope the beer lasts longer than your brain cells. LEAK is the word. A leek is a vegetable belonging to the onion family.|||Drink it now! However, there is a date on it! Other than that, 6 months if it's kept in a cool place .....but I've drunk a can after 6 years ....it was 'orrid!|||I never drink beer in cans. The beer is all right but the air fare to Cannes is too expensive.|||Call the 800 number and ask there reseach depts. If you decide to pour it out it makes good lawn food. *mamatx

What happens to a beer when the expiration date passes?

I know it has a different taste but I want to know what actually becomes wrong with the beer.|||the dates on beer is NOT an expiriation date

there are 2 dates common on alcoholic beverages:

born on dates, which is the date they are bottled

and "freshness dates" which is the date they put on for distribution and sales reasons

its a way for manufacturers to move product off retail shelves, and make sure retailers get rid of the older stuff 1st.

technically speaking most beer brewers belive the optimum age of a beer is to consume within 6 months of bottling... after that the taste might not be quite a fresh, but still is consumable. there are beers people find that are hundreds of years old and drinkable.|||Nothing really, it just gets old over time. You can drink beer that's past the expiration date, which is why some just do "born on" dates.....it doesn't really matter.|||nothing as long as you haven't opened it. it might begin to lose it's carbonation.|||probably the alcohol goes rotten|||skunkorama

What is your favourite beer to drink when you are grilling steaks outside?

I prefer Beck's Dark or Heineken Dark. There is something about dark beer that goes really well with grilling.|||YES ,,very much agreed !!!! any kind of dark beer is yummy..except..I don't like the wheat beers very much....

How long does beer stay fresh non-refrigerated?

I'm in a monthly beer club that delivers a case of various microbrews to me each month. I recently received this month's shipment but am moving in 2 weeks and not planning on finishing the beers before that time. I know better than to chill the beers and then let them rewarm, but would also rather not have to transfer them in a cooler in order to keep them cold during the move. So can they be stored at room temperature until after the move without losing any freshness? Thanks!|||Long time 6 months at least but keep it from getting hot in the summer|||It depends on the beer. Most domestics have a shelf life of 3-6 months depending on what you get. Most Imports are longer, some up to a year or so. If you must store the beer, it would be better to store it in a cool dark place... and I would think they would be fine. Just to be on the safe side, you might want to check the life expectancy of the beer with the microbrewery.

BTW, Good luck on the move!|||Sealed they should be fine for a few months at room (not any warmer) temp. Keep them in a darker area, away from a window.

How Long can beer stay in a glass bottle?

I bought a home brewing beer kit. All it comes with is the plastic amber bottles. I know it can not stay in there long because of the plastic. I bought clear gallon jugs for my beer instead because the amber glass jugs are expensive for me. How long can I keep my beer in the clear jugs and if not for long can I use something to cover the jugs to protect against light damage? Like tin foil or something?|||If it is a high gravity beer with an alcohol concentration above 7.5% ABV it will last for years. I have had lighter beers than this good after a year. Just keep the beer from light and in a cool environment and it will be fine.

.

The beer is fine if you avoid light. Foil will work but is awkward. Try a dark cabinet or basement free of direct light. But you can use a towel or tarp if you want as long as it blocks the light.

.|||Yes, you should be able to use any sort of light-blocking material (aluminum foil, cardboard box, unused DVD cases, whatever) to keep the beer from light damage. Understand that if you are storing beer in your home fridge light may not be too much of an issue, as the light is usually only on when you open the door, as opposed to retail units where lights are on most of the time.

As for how long you can store beer: I'm not sure. Store-bought bottles often say the beer is best within 120 days of being brewed/bottled, so I wouldn't keep it any longer than that. It doesn't say that it can't be consumed after 120 days, just that it tastes best within that time. Of course, this beer is also pasteurized so it can be transported and stored unrefrigerated, so this may increase its overall shelf life.|||Use anything to block the light, it doesn't make any difference.

Length of time? Depends on what you've made; some German or Belgian beers are aged,

'lagered' quite a while before bottling. Many common American beer recipes for just a week or two.

Generally, higher alc beers and ales and those made with higher concentrations of hops and malts have a natural preservative effect and should be cold stored longer.

Cheers!

.|||Get some cheap black spray paint, and paint the bottle. After the paint dries you will have to handle the bottle carefully because the paint will not stick to the glass well.

What is the healthiest beer on the market?

In terms of reaction to the body and its benifits it can have.

I always thought Nastro Azzuro was, but is this beer just like the others, better or worse for the body?|||I don't think any beer is healthy for the body. Try wine.|||I suppose you want beers and not a fools answer of wine.

If in terms of alcohol nay light or even non-alcohol beer is health.

In terms of nourishment then any hefe weizen (a wheat beer) because it contains brewers yeast which has a decent level of B vitamins and minerals.

Beers are not know as healthy as the polyphenols in wines but they have now been given scientific praise for containing the same healthful benefits (to lesser extend).

If you want heath you need to be a moderate drinker then perhaps no more than 3 per day.

What beer would a person who normally drinks vodka/cranberry like?

I normally drink vodka and cranberry. However, not only does it get expensive in a hurry, but it is a bit high maintenance! I've tried beers like Blue Moon and Heineken, but really can't get into it. Is there a beer that would make the transition from vodka/cranberry easier?|||well liquor and beer are quite different...

modello's yummy though|||If you like the taste of drinks like cranberry and vodka and not the traditional beer taste it's gonna be tough to find a beer you like until you develope a taste for it. Start with a wheat beer like Blue Moon and dont forget the orange. Blue Moon has more of a fruity flavor then regular beer. If that doesnt work, try going to the malts like Mikes Hard Lemonade, they make many different flavors and they taste nothing like beer.|||It's sort of like saying, "What car would a person who normally flies in a 747 jet like?"

It's trying to compare apples and oranges so I may be way off the mark but try a raspberry lambic. Lindemans makes one that I have had and it's pretty good. It's not really like beer because I think there is no hops (or very little). It's almost more like a wine, but it's not made with grapes so it's not really wine.

Sam Adams makes a cherry wheat. I'm sure others to as well. There are probably some beers with cranberry in them as well. Keep trying different beers. Leinenkuegels makes a berry weiss that is very fruity.|||The fact that you like vodka/cran makes me think that you don't like bitter things all that much, like lots of flavor, and wouldn't like something heavy. I fall in that category, too, and my favorite beer is Brooklyn Brewing Company's "Pennant Ale '55". Light, not bitter, lots of good flavor, and very easy to drink.|||Try a fruit Lambic. The Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic is a very poor example of the style. Try a lambic from Lindeman's.

If you don't care for Blue Moon, perhaps try a better example of the style (Belgian Witbier). Try Allagash White, Unibroue Blanch de Chambly, Ommegang Witte or Southampton Double White. These beers are so good on their own they won't even need any fruit.|||My only thought is a lambic of some sort.

Beer is an acquired taste, and while Blue Moon is not bad, it's still a Coors product so you shouldn't expect it to be great. Heineken is completly overrated. According to ratebeer.com, 90% of all beers are better than Heineken (I'll let you have one guess where Bud and Coors is...).|||Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic|||Most likely a fruit lambic such as Lindemans or a fruit flavored wheat beer like Pyramid's apricot hefewiezen|||Bud light or Cors light I drink a couple of beers b 4 I drink vodka n cranverry|||Try Blue Moon. What type of beer glass should I use for Sam Adams Boston Ale?

Personally, I find drinking from a beer bottle takes away the experience of drinking the beer.

With that said, what type of beer glass should I use for American ales? Specifically Sam Adams Boston Ale?

Thanks!|||You are so right - an open faced glass or mug is the proper way to drink liquid bread.

I prefer the Imperial Pint shape myself, as shown in the link below, but any glass will do.

How long until the rest of the world realize how many great beers and beer styles R available USA?

The USA has had such a great revival of beers in the past 25-35 years yet most of them think only the very pale-straw beers are available. The fact is we have a much better beer offering than any country other than perhaps Belgium. |||If they do not know by now they may never know

Can you take beer and wine in checked luggage on an airplane?

I'm going on a cruise and want to take beer and wine in luggage. I'll be flying into San Diego and would like to know if I can take beer and wine in luggage that is checked on the flight. I know you can't take it on carry-on. Also any tips on getting beer and wine on the cruise ship?|||You can carry alcoholic beverages in your checked luggage and, in fact, it is preferred that you pack any in your checked luggage. Just make sure it is packed carefully and sealed in a leak proof case. However most cruise lines prohibit the bringing of alcohol on board their ships so you may find it confiscated by the cruise line. The only alcohol allowed on board is what is purchased on board. You also cannot purchase duty free, if available, on board then consume it. It is generally delivered to your cabin the last night on board the ship.|||I do not think most cruise ships allow you to bring beer and wine aboard because they make a lot of money selling it. The only exception is "all inclusive including liquor and beer" cruises which are few and far between. The typical ship has free food and soft drinks but charges for liquor and beer. Don't check beer and wine in your luggage, it could break or explode if champaign.|||I manage a wine shop and we recommend a product called 'wineskin' for use in checked baggage. It is padded and seals so it won't leak if you happen to have a break.

The cruise ship might be tricky, but you could get lucky and they will load your baggage, but not x-ray it.|||You can take alcohol in checked bags, but wrap it in your clothing to avoid broken glass bottles. As for the cruise ship, well, good luck if that is your plan. (1) They will look because it isn't allowed. (2) They will look for regular security reasons.|||I think so for wine, but not for beer cause it might explode due to pressure differentiation. As long as you aren't going out of country, then you'd have to deal with customs with that junk.|||Yes, just make sure its in something that wont spill. As long as its checked you should be fine.

How many people does a keg of beer serve?

Im getting married and want to serve beer at the wedding. There could be between 50-90 people there with maybe 20-40 beer drinkers. Is one keg going to be enough for everyone to have 3 or 4 drinks? What about wine for the ladies? Should I just buy a couple of boxes?|||A half keg of Bud lt or something similar will cost $75 to $110. There are about 150 beers in a half keg. You can also get big bottles of wine (called a magnum), beringer is a good, inexpensive brand, for less than $10 each. I would get one red and 1 or 2 whites. Stay away from the boxed wine!!! I cannot emphasize this enough!! You should also get those little clear plastic cups for wine, people will drink less this way. If they are pouring wine into those big red cups, it will be gone before you know it.|||People tend to drink more at a free bar. It depends on what kind of wedding reception you are planning (party on or nice and short so you and your new wife can start the honeymoon). Seriously, if you are talking about a full keg you have plenty. Keep in mind, there are also such things as half keg's and quarter kegs. They are all called kegs.

Half keg will probably do. Quarter keg will not.

Boxes? You are buying wine by the box (LOL - that is the way I buy it).

Forget red. I suggest the pinks. White Zinfandel, White Grenache, that type thing. We are talking box here remember. More expensive stuff I do Whites and Reds, not with box though.

Have a long and happy marriage!

-Dio|||A keg holds 88 pints. (But work on 80 to alow for spillages) I wouldn't worry about getting 4 kegs, as usually they are sale or return. Ask and go to the supplier who is. Happy wedding!!|||i would say a keg of beer is enought for one..... if youre awesome! no, im just kidding. im sure whoever youre buying from can answer that for you.|||Let's start with a half keg hold 15.5 gallons, 1/4 keg 7.25, 1/6 keg is around 5 gallons. In other words, you can not buy a "whole" keg, and why would you want to as it would weigh over 250 pounds.

15.5 *128=1984 oz 1984/12=165 12 oz glasses

Hot day and a good band = 4 beers an hour (about average) would give you 2 hours worth of beer per half keg per 20 people (assuming it is something everyone will drink). Probably split it up between a light beer (Coors light) and something better (Killians is a personal favorite). As for Budweiser, you have the "I can't stand it" versus the "I only drink Bud" crowds, but they all seem to enjoy Yuengling.

And as for the wines, stay the hell away from the boxes of wine!!! Unless you are talking a full case, the plastic bags in a cardboard box scream "CHEAP BASTARD!!!"

Get nice large (3 or 4 liter) bottles of Taylor or the like if you want bulk wine.

Beer????????????

i drank 6 beers on sunday around 8 p.m and i have a drug test on tuesday at around 1 p.m will i pass?|||As long as you weren't washin down somethin else, you'll be fine.|||sweet bro...6 beers|||Beer isn't a drug... They don't test for it on drug tests. And if you wanted to check it, it will be totally gone by then.|||yes for one thing beer is not a drug. for 2 beer does not stay in your systen that long. drink some water you will be fine|||Beer doesnt have anything to do with a drug test. Unless you got super drunk and forgot you toked up...then youve got a problem.|||Uh... what does a drug test have to do with alcohol?

Besides alcohol passes out of your system fairly quickly, it'll be gone by then.|||I hope you are just ignorant of either testing procedure or the term "drug." They don't typically test for alcohol. Besides - alcohol leaves the body at approximately the rate of one drink per hour.|||lol no silly alcohol doesnt show up on drug tests thats why everyone drinks it|||Oh definitely. Colored shampoos or temporary rinses work better. If you want to go lighter then you must use coloring with peroxide|||well if u want it lighter why would u put beer in it to make it red u should lemon juice in it instead!|||that seems like a weird way to make your hair a redish tint. You can if you use the right the right kind of beer. If you want a slite red color to your hair then you can by shampoo for red hair the more you use it the more intense red your hair will get. That is the best and safest way to do this with out being permanent.|||Yes,no, its certainly possible....|||umm trust me it doesn't work...i tried it!!!all you will have it bad smelling hair for a while and it just dries out your hair real bad!DON'T DO IT!

Beer?????????????????????????

Why is it so much more important for beer to be 100 perfect. Why should it be so much more important for beer than it is for food or soda or anything else. Beer taste horrible. Its not that important for people to be so deperate for beer and to have it perfect, Beer taste vile anyway.

Why do people drink beer??????

Is it because they like the taste OR they like the way it makes them feel... What is so great about beer to the point where it is the most important thing in someones life..

People could somtimes say Be a real man and drink beer,, or beer makes ugly woman pretty. What do you like about beer.|||Well 鈥?I can say REAL people (not men) drink REAL beer. Not the watered down cold horse-urine that is sold as mass-market beer.

Beer should be drank for the taste, and not for the high. Mass-market beer-drinkers goes for the high. But most people who know what beer is about do it for the taste, as I鈥檓 sure Oikos above will agree with me on. (Abbey clone, Oikos? Invite me over!)

Beer is the one thing that almost every culture on earth shares, found from ancient China, to Africa, and South America - and beer is the oldest human beverage that is not water or milk 鈥?it has truly come through millennia, not mere centuries, so there must be something to it then.

If you don鈥檛 like beer 鈥?then fine. I don鈥檛 like coffee. But don鈥檛 make your dislikes an item of ridicule and insult on those people who do. To say beer tastes vile is a subjective opinion, and my subjective opinion is that if you don鈥檛 like something 鈥?move along, nothing to see here, leave it for the people that can appreciate quality, okay?|||Different strokes for different folks, as for me my favorite drink is coffee, and my second choice would be cold milk. I do love to drink a cold beer on a hot summer day. If a person drinks more then 12 ounces though, they are only drinking it for the high. This goes for any alcoholic drink, more than one drink is for the alcoholic effect on the brain, which can cause more pain than feeling good most of the time.|||Why do I drink it? I like it for the taste as for what do I like about beer?,well the price in my case a mere 拢1.65 for a pint of Worthington Best Bitter.|||If you don't like it, don't drink it; you won't die of thirst. For those of us who do like it, it is important to get the best possible. I keep tweaking my beer recipes to try to get the exact beer (in that style) that I want. I'm almost there with my bock. There's still a way to go with my hefeweisen and an abbey ale clone. Sigh. The things we do for science....

BTW, I do much the same when I cook or bake.|||Girly Boys and Girly Men don't like beer.

Besides that 30 degrees is only slightly below where your refrigerator is at and beer freezes at about 16 degrees Fahrenheit.|||it's fine to leave beer outside in 30 degree weather. my friends put their beer in the snow instead of a cooler.|||I've had a case of beer sitting outside for about a month now... (I know, shame on me for not drinking them sooner)..and they are just fine. The temperature has dipped into single digits a few times but on average has been about 20 degrees...I was surprised that they were not frozen but I think the fact that I left them in the case and half burried it in a snow bank made for proper insulation. Ain't noting wrong with a cold beer...|||They probably got sick because the bottles or whatever were dirty, just make sure u clean them first all it will do from being outside is make it cold|||No its fine to leave beer outside in the cold weather, its the warm weather you need to watch out for because it will go bad|||He is correct|||Nothing wrong with it...keeps it cold and saves room in the fridge|||just put them in the fridge to cool down for a bit, or even the freezer.. not for too long mind!

Beer!!!!!!?

if i just bought beer from the store how long would it last without goin skunky and flat?|||Well, it depends on the beer, and if you are concerned about “skunky and flat”, then I assume you drink a decent brand?

Mass-produced mass-market brands has a short-ish shelf life, and extreme heat or extreme cold can damage any beer, but more so the pathetic run-of-the-mill big-brand beer.

A decently brewed beer will have a shelf life of 6 months to two years, and like my brand new friend carinata said above, some of them an actually last for freaking decades!

But leave it out of the sun where it will get too warm, leave it out of the darkest, deepest pit of the cellar where it may freeze, and a decent beer will last a few months.

Not so decent beers, 60 days, tops. But then again, they were undrinkable to begin with.|||30 days|||if it just sitting at room temp. it will go bad in about a week, put it someplace cool and it will last forever|||if you got from the refridgerated section, keep the beer cool. if you put some place warm and than chill it again, it will become skunky.

i'd put the beer in a cool place like the fridge or a basement (if the basement is made out of cement).

the beer should have an expiration date. drink it or cook with it before the expiration date!|||about 3 months|||Skunkiness comes from two sources. Tempurature flucuation and light, especially clear bottles. Keep it cool and away from light and it will last months. That's how it is kept in warehouses etc...|||It depends on the style of beer. Mass produced lagers such as bud have a shelf life of approximately 60 days. While other beers such as Lambics, Barleywines and Olde ales can last 20-30 years or more, and actually improve depth and complexity with time

Anyone know how to make professional looking beer labels for home brews?

My brother-in-law is an avid home brewer and I want to design beer labels for him and have them printed and ready for labeling, but I know NOTHING about anything beer brewing related. Help!|||ImageMakerGraphics.com has a design center where you can create your labels online - You can choose from laser/inkjet labels, roll labels, die-cut labels, foil labels, and others. You have the ability to design these labels online, or you can upload your own original artwork or photos. Here is a link:

http://www.imagemakergraphics.com/pages/鈥?/a>

Best Regards|||Check out the avery website. They have tons of labels to work with your printer and PC.|||You don't have to know anything about brewing, really. Either use a graphics package and print the labels on your computer's printer or go to a printshop with camera-ready art. If you need (to swipe) ideas, go to the Brew Your Own (magazine) website. They have an annual label design contest. You might want the brewery name printed, plus a space for the type of beer and the brewing date. Then add a graphic that either matches the name or has something to do with beer or barley. Sounds like a great gift. Please mention it to MY family.

What is the best beer to drink while watching calories?

Im on a diet and watching my calorie intake. Im meeting a friend for dinner and would love to have a nice cold beer, but not blow my calories or diet. Any suggestions? I usually have Corona|||MGD64 is only 64 calories.

Michelob Ultra is 98 calories

If it was me, I'd drink the Guinness.|||The calorie count of a beer depends entirely on its strength. The stronger the beer the higher the calorie count. There are no fats or sugars in beer; alcohol is the only source of calories.

Having said which, an Imperial pint of normal strength beer will contain around 180 calories; the little snack you have with it - a packet of crisps or peanuts, say - will contain between two and three times that number of calories.

What beer should I get for a party?

I'm planning on getting a keg of beer for a party I'm throwing next weekend, but I'm not sure what kind of beer I should get. Any suggestions?|||budweiser or heinekin for the keg, and for extras get anything (thats good) and not in a glass bottle.

I recommend coors light as an option, too, because it doesnt fill you up as much.

And if you want your party REALLY wicked, get some tequila, vodka, rum, and whisky going. But make sure to be in control of them and only let people have them in shots or in mixed drinks. Because then it might get way too out of hand and dangerous for alcohol poisoning. It's always nice to call one of your alcoholic friends and ask them to bartend...they'll do it for free and your party will have class.

May i also suggest a wet t-shirt contest? i dont know what party your gonna have, but i went to this one that had that, and everyone was talking about it for ages.

Heres one last tip:

when you run out of beer (and you will) ask a drunk person or a heavy drinker to pitch in a little. They're most likely to say yes, because they love to drink, and tell them they can pick the flavor. Anything put Modelo!!! that sh*t is gross!!!! lol, have a good party.|||if youre in college and poor like me, get natty ice or busch. its not as good but it wont break the bank. kegs with bud or anything like that can cost upwards of 200 dollars. people will be fine with the lower quality stuff because free beer is the best beer.|||either the cheapest kind you can get at the time or something that you know most people like e.g. budweiser or coors or something like that.

Why does all beer taste the same to me?

I've been 21 for about a month now and boy has it been one big disappointment after another. I like mixed drinks and coolers but I don't know about beer. In the past month I've taken sips of 6 different beers/ales- Rolling Rock, Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat, Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, Spotted Cow, Blue Moon, and New Castle. They all tasted awful and they all tasted the same. What's wrong with me? People talk about beer like it's ice cream or something.|||Don't be silly. A lot of people don't like beer. I personally think all beer tastes like crap. There are so many cool drink ideas that aren't beers and exploring those would be a fun idea. Don't worry about it. I don't think I'll ever like beer either.|||yeah, um, wow, if all those tasted the same, you may have a problem with your taste buds*LOL* try Leinie's Berryweis (its almost a wine-cooler).

your taste preference could just be that you don't like beer (nothing wrong with that either, although my german blood sickens at the thought)|||Beer is an acquired taste. Most people that like beer at your age have been drinking it long before they were 21, and probably just to get drunk. If you drink more of it you'll be able to appreciate the separate tastes more.|||Don't beat yourself into it..drinking beer isn't that cool.stay original!|||do you like coffee? tea? coke? Pepsi? Beer is a learned taste and what you like is not what others may like. Some wine drinkers like a sweet wine and others dry. Find what tastes good for you and look for similar drinks. I like dark thick brews and a lot of people don't. There loss. Find what you like. and don't over do it and end up where you never wanted to go|||EtOHRx

Perhaps beer is not for you. For now drink what you like. Later, even perhaps years you can try beer again. Who knows perhaps then it will be the gratest thing you have ever tasted. It would be a boring world if we all like the same things.

I love beer and I have since my first sip. I am just the opposite of some others here. I think the hard booze (distilled alcohol: vodka, whiskey, rum, gin, etc.) all taste like crap.

Beer has a much broader flavor profile than those beverages. This leads to not only more choices but better drinking sessions. With beer nothing needs to be added. That is not true for distilled spirits. For those a mixer is required to choke it down. Very few people that drink distilled alcohol drink it straight. Which should tell you something about it's flavor.

Beer is a complex mix of grain and flower. The grain (malted barley) imparts sweetness, and cereal(cereal means grain) called malty or maltiness flavor. The flower (called hops) imparts bitterness and aromas. Some hops such as Cascade gives a citrusy-spicy not to it's aroma. Yeast is an important ingredient to all alcohol but none so important than beer.

Brewers yeast imparts many flavor notes that include buttery (diacetyl), veg-corn (dimethyl sulfide), to phenols that include clove. Esters are sweet aromas such as fruit that brewers yeast imparts to beer through it's fermentation activity. When these flavors come together in a nice beer it is angelic.

As with the nasty boozes, beer sometimes is an acquired taste but so is liver and other foods.

One draw back of beer is that it is filling being 90% water.

Enjoy|||All beer have some bitterness to them. It comes from the hops. Some are more bitter than others. For people who have been raised on Mountain Dew, Froot Loops and Pop Tarts, anything bitter is not going to taste good, at least at first. EVERYTHING has to be sweet, right!

You will begin to appreciate and like beer if and when you outgrow your sweet tooth and your tastes start maturing. You may also find real wine superior to the heavily sugared "wine" coolers about that same time.

Bert|||Than you don't like beer. All beers taste different and I would start off lighter than that if you want to like beer at all.|||try drinking real beer and then you will taste the differents

My cousins were drinking it so i wanted to, but hated the taste at first. After trying to keep up with them in drinking games for a couple years i now like it a lot. In my experience i had to drink it for awhile before i started to enjoy the originality of beer. It is not that strong and is more convenient than mixing drinks every so often. Also i find the first beer is always the most flavourful one of the night after the first beer of the night they all seem to taste like pop or something.|||You just have to like it, or not. People enjoy drinking beer in many different ways: Some stick with their favourite brand, others like trying different tastes. Like wine, brandy and whisky, people with a fine sense of taste and a well developed palate will approach beer differently than others. I myself have tried different beers and decided to stick with one that i like.|||Try a light beer like bud light or miller light they don't have as much of an after taste.|||There are many types of beer. I suggest trying out lighter beers if you have not enjoyed their taste as of now. My personal favorite is Blueberry Ale, but you'll find many, many different types of beer that will be sure to satisfy your taste buds. (Maybe even try Bud Light? I think it is dirty, but is one of the best selling beers in the US).|||well for starters, you need to try some good beer, not that slop|||Compare Guiness Stout to Iron City- there is a difference, then drink a Bud or Corona with lime.|||try Woodchuck Granny Smith Draft Cider...YUM!

And yes, beer is definitely an aquired taste. Hope you find one you like!|||COORS... thats is the magic word. i had the same problem i would pay like $8.00 for a six pack of girly wine coolers and be mad that i couldve bought like a case of beer for $12.00. i tried coors a while back and now thats what i drink.its great youve gotta try it.

Drink one for me

If you don't like those beers then you need to try something a little lighter.

Try Heinekin or Corona!|||beer is an acquired taste... i have never acquired it... i too like mixed drinks and coolers and the such.. beer tastes bitter.. and i don`t like it..and theres nothing wrong with you..you just have a taste for the tastier things in life and that's all good..|||WICKED ALE%26gt;verrry different,,,|||Start drinking light beers (in color, not necessarily carbs). Miller Genuine Draft is a good beer that is near tasteless. After drinking plenty of watery beers, you will slowly be able to move up to darker beers. Beer is an acquired taste and it takes time to get used to it. Eventually, if you try hard enough, you'll be able to tell the slightest differences between beers.|||try some bud ice, or pepe lopez tequilla

How do you flavor beer-battered chicken to go with this meal?

I'm planning on making dinner, the times I made beer-battered chicken my dad said it was too plain and we didn't know how to flavor it a little. So, I'm wondering what you guys add to yours to make it not so plain. The side stuff is sour cream and chives mashed patatos and steamed vegatables.|||this one come from a contact I had on here when I first started...can't remember the name, but kudos, its awesome. powder. This is called Tout pa Tout ( Tout sounds like 2) and means

a little of everything, or goes with anything, either way.

This goes good on any kind of meat, and most vegatables.

Carefull though, the more you use, the hotter it is.

Perhaps I should say that this is a seasoning mix and not all of it will be added to your flour. The rest keeps very well in a sealed bag or container|||Yeah, add some salt, pepper, and some spices to the batter. Depends on what your tastes are.

Want some heat? Throw in a couple of shakes of tabasco into the batter, for instance.|||You can add some dry spices to the batter like garlic, paprika, onion, red pepper.

How much does beer costs in France?

I wanted to know how much could beer cost in France. And if any of you know, if food is generally expensive there. I am planning a trip this summer and I wanted to know what budget I should have for food --and beer, I make a beer budget, planning on having a lot of fun ;o)

thanks!|||If you go to a bar, the average price varies between 2,50鈧?and 3,50鈧?for 1/4 liter but if you want to buy a pack of beer, go to a supermarket where you can buy a pack of 24 Kronenburgs for about 8鈧?(6 liters). The smaller stores are good in case of an emergency but the beer there is usually much more expensive.|||Why would you go to France to drink BEER?

You go to France for their wine, and romance and whatnot...if you want beer, go to Germany, or Ireland.|||I don't know but Im sure its in Euros and cheap.|||it varies, depending on the brand. But remember, it is in the Euro and that is worth way more than USD. Seriously though, the beer here in germany is wayyyy better. How do I get beer out of my white leather boots?

Last night I couldn't seem to carry my beer without spilling it and I have droplets all over my boots. Can I just wipe them with water?|||take some hardcore liquor make sure it is clear and rub it in and then wash them works like a charm|||Yes although beer is made up of an organic compund(mostly ethanol).. it is an alcohol(it has a hydroxyl group which makes it soluble in water.. one of the few organic compounds that is) and thus you can exploit this property by doing just that.. wiping your boots with water.

P.S. what is a limp dick? Someone who can't get erect?

Also what were you doing drinking on a monday night? Drinking so you could dream about me as your boyfriend?

Beer drinkers? Do you drink it for the taste or for the buzz?

I have tried and tried to aquire a taste for beer, are there some beers out there that taste good?|||It is an acquired taste, but the fact that it tastes different from everything else is what makes it so popular. Try beers from different countries, as everyone brews it differently and has a unique taste. Belgian beer is very strong and sweet, whereas English beer has a relatively low alcohol content, but is creamier and has a powerful taste.

If you really don't like it, stick to alcopops. If they don't get you drunk fast enough, add a couple of shots of vodka to it. Watch out though, you'll be on the floor sooner than you think!|||Both!|||the buzz|||I definitely drink beer for the taste. I am what one might call a beer critic of sorts. I have tasted beer from all over the world. Most of the mass produced beer we see in the US like Miller, Budweiser, Coors barely scratches the surface of what true beer tastes like. There are so many more levels of beer flavor....some taste like coffee, some taste like fruit, some taste very bitter, and some sweet. Go out and be adventurous with beer, you really don't know what you're missing until you do.|||Oh Yeah ! FOR BOTH !|||There are some beers out there that you can learn to enjoy. However, I would still say that 90% of the reason most people drink beer is for the effect.|||A lot of people drink it for the buzz I think, but there are some who actually do appreciate the taste. Personally, I appreciate Blue Moon and Hefeweizen- both white ales and they go down smoothly. Beer and pizza together though- it's like magic because it tastes so good...|||Taste, I rarely drink more than 1 beer in a sitting. The only buzz I like is adreneline from playing sports.|||Originally for the buzz, it all had the same taste back then. But as you get older you begin to find out just which beer taste better to you. Now I can only drink Corona, Guinness or Tucher. Hienikens make me gag.|||i think good canadian lager is refreshing crisp and clean soo tasty good5% beers like labatt blue %26amp; mooosehead.|||I drink liquor straight or on the rocks for the effect and mixed drinks or beer for the taste. You're right, you have to acquire a taste for beer. I think they all taste different. You should try beers from different countries. I love this german beer - Warstein, but can't stand Corona's. I think Coors and Miller are really mellow - they're good beers to drink at a bbq or with pizza. PBR is just crap, I wouldn't reccomend it. But everyone has different preferences concerning taste. You're best bet is trial and error. I know some people who just LOVE PBR. What weirdos :oP haha jk.|||I DON"T drink beer because of the taste.|||I'd say 90% for the effect, 10% for the taste.|||i like darker beers and imports, i use to drink solely for the buzz but once i got away from budweiser, miller, and all that crap and started buying the more expensive micros and imports i found out beer actually does taste really good|||Well, once you brake past the barrier of getting over the taste it somehow does become about taste - buzz applies always.

Alcohol itself is nasty. It's not like it's cherry pie or pudding - something tasty - it is a chemical that people lie to get a buzz off of and spend great effort on making it accessible as possible to the palate. So, it's more of a "what you can stand" versus "what do you like". People just make it sound all tasty to make themselves seem more sophisticated than they are; especially wine drinkers. I have rich relatives and the most expensive wine I have drank with them was a $4000 bottle of something. It tasted no different than the $8 bottle at the grocery store. They both tasted like crap. I don't care how long you "smell" it or "twirl" it, or what kind of grapes it is, the difference is negligible in my opinion.|||I like the taste of a good beer, as long as it is ice cold|||European or Canadian beer - both

American beer - neither|||yesssssssss there are more then you could ever dream of. first things first, when you first start drinking, its 99.9 for the buzz and rebellion stuff like that. then as you start drinking more and more, you discover why everybodys doing it. beer is awesome. so you stop drinking, bud/natural light, 40OZs, and the like. well you dont really stop, you'll still drink these at parties. but you'll find yourself taking a sixer of some really good American beer/Import to a party. pretty soon its a case, then before you know it, you have a keg of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for New Years instead of PBR. Then you're speding $5 on a pint of beer at the bar instead of $2 for draft domestic. There is a whole ton of beers to drink. I hate recommending stuff to people but what i like is Newcastle Brown Ale, Fat Tire, Bass, Guinness, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, most Sam Adams, Red Hook, Heineken(reg and dark), and lot i cant even name that are in Germany. If you have the means i recommend traveling Europe and you will truly discover what it's all about. Kruezberg in Germany, is the last Monastary Brewery thats not controlled by a company or whatever. It has THE greatest beer in the world. But to save time i just advise that next time you're wherever it is that you buy booze, to find a 6 pack of bottles that you've never heard of and give it a try. That's what ive been doin since junior high. Peace|||The buzz|||Beer is an aquired taste. I used to HATE it, but I do like it now. I drink it for the taste though because it's extemely hard for me to get drunk off of beer. I've pretty much stuck to Bud Lite, Bud Select and Miller Lite. To me they're all good.|||well I like some beers, not so much the dark ones because they are too bold. I do drink it for the taste, and the buzz. Some that I like are, Coors Light, Michelob light, Corona light with a lime and a salted rim.

A drink that I sometimes make for girlfriends ( usually in the summer though) is a mix of Corona lights and a can of frozen limeade. lots of ice and add some cut limes. It cuts down some of the beer taste. The only one I like that is a little darker is the Strawberry blonde, but I can't remember who makes it.|||buzzzzz|||both, it depends on the time.

some people drink because they have had a bad day, others drink beer with a pizza for the taste. it just depends on what kind of person you are.|||I have found that you need to taste a lot of different beer to find out what you like and don't like. I used to hate beer, but now I love it. (I still hate the domestics, Bud, Coors, etc., they're too tasteless and bitter for me) I would suggest going to a microbrewery bar sometime and ordering a sampler of beers. Most microbreweries have these, they are usually a group of 4-6 small (3 oz or less) beers that they make in all different flavors. That way, if you hate one, you don't feel bad for wasting a beer and you can find out what your taste in beer is. Then someday you may find out how great the combos of beer and hamburgers or beer and chicken wings really are! yum! (ps, you may need to visit more than one microbrewery, some are just nasty, lol)|||The taste.

There are lots of different beers with different amounts of hops, rye, etc... that will change the flavor.

Budweiser, Miller, etc.. almost killed beer in the US.

Micro brewers (see if you have one nearby with a tasting coming up) Leinenkugel's and a few companies like Sam Adams, , etc... have brought it back with taste being the primary factor.

There are Ales, Lagers, two pulls (mix of both), mead (made from honey), and several other types of beer with emphasis on flavor. Bud, Miller, etc.. all taste terrible to me. So try off brands with the help of a tasting to see just what you like, I have found that i developed a taste for it over the years and used to like thick lagers, but now I like anything, except Miller, bud, or other mass made stuff.

You could always try making your own, good way to see what makes a good beer. But the wait can be torture. ( No as seen on TV stuff either)|||I hate beer! And to answer your question, no and no. It tastes nasty and if all you want to do is get a buzz, there are soooo many other drinks that do the trick. My man says that he has learned to like the taste. I don't know though.|||I drink it for both reasons! I love beer, but I rarely drink the "cheap" stuff. Experiment with imported beers, or try mixing it with gingerale or a slice of lime to modify the taste a little bit. So refreshing!|||you develop a taste for the buzz, babe|||If I'm drinking a beer, it's because I like the taste of it. Same with wine. I'm content with having just one beer, nobody should get a buzz from that. Probably would have two, though. Actually, I haven't had any alcohol in a few weeks, I used to drink (almost) every night a couple months ago. Didn't mean to, classes just needed my attention.

Anyways, if you've been trying to acquire the taste for Bud, Miller, Coors, Corona, Red Stripe, Tecate and any of the "Lite" beers, you won't be able to do it. It's not drinkable, they simply don't taste good.

I think if you want to learn how to appreciate beer and not just drink it because you want to get buzzed/drunk, then you need to understand what beer is supposed to taste like. I think if I knew what I know before I started drinking, I would start with wine first. If you can enjoy a full bodied red wine, especially a merlot or cabernet sauvignon, then you should be well adjusted to the idea of a bitter drink. From here you can start with some better beers, not overly bitter. Newcastle would be a good start, all my friends I've given that to loved it, even my Asian friend who can't stand beer. Moving on, Sam Adams (really, any style), and Sierra Nevada would be good choices after that.

If you enjoyed those 3 beers, you can start to drink any beer and find good things in it. I'd reccomend you just see what beers you might be interested in trying when you're picking up some Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada. Then, go over to www.ratebeer.com and see what people said. The percentile is a good indicator. I believe Newcastle is 48th, meaning it's better than 48% of beers. Budweiser, etc, are all 0%. I'd drink anything over 70th percentile without much thought. Between the 50th - 70th percentile, it's kinda of hit or miss. Anything under the 40th percentile you should pass on. The site is somewhat skewed towards darker beers, because they do have more flavor.

BTW, Starter dark beers, if available: Sam Adams Black Lager, Harpoon Munich Dark, Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale (it doesn't fit the style like Newcastle Brown Ale does). You should be able to find the 1st one easily, the other 2 are more east coast beers.|||of course for the taste, try light beer it taste so good and its less filling|||One never drinks beer for the buzz. You have to go to the bathroom too much.

For buzz, vodka.

If you look for taste and buzz, Belgian beer (14%!!!).

What is the difference between Root Beer and Sasparilla?

My boyfriend is a Root Beer enthusiast He was "schooling" me on Root Beer and how it is made from a Sarsaparilla tree (or is it a Sassafras tree?). Then mid-explanation he decided that he wanted me to figure out for myself what the difference between the two is. The only problem is I cannot find a clear SIMPLE answer as to the difference.

Can anybody shed some light on the subject?

|||The drink Sarsaparilla is a carbonated drink made from the extract from the sarsaparilla root but originally it was flavored with sassafras and birch oils and did not contain sarsaparilla.

Root beer is also flavored with sarsaparilla root but has the additional flavorings from sassafras, anise, burdock, cinnamon, dandelion, ginger, juniper, vanilla and wintergreen.

hope i helped!!!

|||Root beer is a carbonated beverag made out of sasparilla.

It is made from the bark %26amp; root extract from the sassafras tree. The most prominent flavor I can detect is the "anise seed". And root beer often has other flavorings, including anise, burdock, cinnamon, dandelion, ginger, juniper, spikenard / sarsaparilla, vanilla, wintergreen, and / or yellow dock and sweetened with aspartame, corn syrup, honey, maple syrup, molasses, and, most commonly sugar. Although originally carbonated with yeast, most modern root beer brands are artificially carbonated. Most brands of root beer contain sodium benzoate as a preservative.

http://www.root-beer.org/questions.htm

It is a non alcoholic beverage. Unless you add alcohol.

This is the best way to have it in my opinion!!

How to make it:

http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Root-Beer

Root beer, also known as sarsaparilla, is a carbonated beverage originally created from sassafras. Root beer, popularized in North America, comes in two forms: alcoholic and soft drink.

Root beer is a carbonated beverag made out of sasparilla. Sasparilla is a tree and the roots are used either the extract or made into powder.. Use the extract or powder an dother spices to make the beverage called root beer...

What type of beer is good to give as a gift to an executive chef?

It must be the best because he has a very good sense of taste.

Can anyone suggest the best tasting brew for a gift at $50 or less? It specifically MUST be BEER.|||Most micro brew houses off the beers of best flavors.

Look up your local hot micro breweries and research whats in what. In Cleveland area we have many great tasting beers from Great Lakes Brewery

I also like Sam Adams Cherry Wheat (knock your socks off)|||The only beer I could ever stand the taste of was Miller Light...hardly the best beer around though and many people hate it. But then again, I have plebeian tastes and a beer pocketbook. If you are unable to purchase the exact beer you would like, try a gift certificate and let the chef choose his preference. Even though the beer might be the best tasting brew for some, it is not necessarily the best tasting to everyone's palate.|||Stella Artois is a great lager beer, to my knowledge, it is only available by import, there are no brewers in the US that produces it under its label. It is usually one of the most expensive beers available at a bar or liquor store, and the after taste is very fine, unlike many other lager beers, which leave a stale, almost rotten taste afterwards.|||Oh there are a lot of great beers out there. Do you know what style he likes? There are several different styles.

Most people that really like beer generally will try and enjoy most anything. I would suggest getting a sampler case. A lot of breweries do this. I don't know where you live but there is a great brewery that bottles beer and exports it. It is called Flying Dog and I love their beer. Here is their website:

http://www.flyingdogales.com/

Otherwise, if you are willing to spend $50, I would suggest bringing the chef to a brewery (if you live by one) to do a tour and sampling. This is a lot of fun and a creative way to give a gift.|||Newcastle Brown Ale|||Go to some local liquor stores and see if they don't have some gift packs of beer assortments. I've seen them at my local liquor store in wooden boxes, but I'm sure there is more than one type available.

You can also ask the clerk for his recommendation based on what they have available. They might stock some 'premium' beer to consider.|||Guinness|||Being in the business myself, I would suggest looking into products from a micro brewery. A good executive chef is always looking for an unique item to both sample and "discover".

Anyone can buy expensive beer. A gift would be a new tasting experience.|||Wow, what bad suggestions. Here is a list of the top beers in the world. I highly recommend the Westvleteren Abt 12. It has been the number one beer in the world for many years going and can be purchased off eBay easily. I've had several and can't even begin to describe just how wonderful it is. I would get anything in the top 50.

Other than that I would suggest using the below webpage to find a local craft brewery. In Michigan you've go Bell's, Delaware has Dogfish Head and Indiana has 3 Floyd's just for a few examples. Once you've located a brewery near you, look up the reviews and see what they have available.

I've been collecting and sampling rare and craft beers for many years now. If you have any questions about then list or what/how to get some of them fee free to email me through my profile.|||Stay away from the big three(Anheuser Busch,Miller,Molson/coors) They all mass produce horse whizz. Find a local craft brewer. It will be the freshest and the best tasting. Barring that, SOME imports would be the second choice. Authentic German beers are your best route in imports as they have the strictest quality standards.|||A couple six packs of some VERY good microbews from your area. If you don't know of any, just ask the clerk at the liquor store.|||To play with a seasonal ale such as pumpkin. To drink a seasonal brew from a local micro brewer .Also to drink this time of year Sierra Nevada celebration ale.|||I would go to a local microbrewery and see if they have a sampler you could buy. If he really likes beer, he would probably appreciate trying some new beers out. Plus, if you only buy one kind, he may not like it and will be stuck with beer he doesn't want. If you don't have a microbrewery around you, you could also go to a beer store with a good selection and pick out a few different beers and make a basket for him- maybe with a beer stein and some gourmet snacks to enjoy with the beer.

My taste in beer has evolved as i drink more and more. I used to be content with Bud Light, now i only drink the stuff at parties and buy kegs of it because it's really cheap but if i want to treat myself i'll buy heineken, sam adams, or new castle.

What is the best kind of beer to cook pork with?

I am cooking a soup today int he slow cooker with a pork shoulder butt roast. It a black bean soup with a little bite to it. I dont know a lot about beer but the recipe recommendeds a lager.I do want to be able to taste the beer a bit though. What is a good recommendation.|||If you have Budweiser in the house, go ahead and use it. But if you want to really taste the beer, I'd go for something darker and with more body, like Bass or even Guinness if you dare.|||I love to cook it in heinkeen, cooking pork in beer tenderizes the meat, your butt roast with be tender and juicy! You can also opt for white wine instead of the beer.|||Since your doing a Cuban recipe, I would try and stick to a Spanish beer like a Modela or Dos Equis. I'm looking for a place that has many fine beers on tap. A place that has good craft beer and imports. Someplace better than Yard House, BJs and Taps for instance. Any help is appreciated.|||What city exactly?

Your best bet is to go to Beer Advocate's site and do a "Beerfly" search for the area you are in. It's the most comprehensive source for finding good beer bars, breweries, etc.

Which Dark Beer is best for Cooking?

I don't drink beer so I have no clue about beer and flavors. I have several recipes that call for a dark beer. Which brand should I get?|||Guinness is Irish!! But is does work really well in sauces for beef. One traditional dish in most parts of the UK is Steak and Ale Pie - just a beef pie, basically but with beer in the pie liquor. Guinness is good for this and makes the sauce really rich. The flavor of it is quite strong, which is why you need to pair it with a strong meat like beef. You can make nice desserts with rich, dark chocolate and Guinness also.|||Guinness. It's a strong German beer, that has a very full and bold flavor. Not my favorite to drink straight, but it's good for cooking.

What type of beer to put in chili?

I'm making chili where the recipe calls for a beer. What should I use? We have guiness and sam adams light here.

Thanks!|||fry the bacon first, it'll be great. and i'd throw in the guiness. i usually use a dark beer, maybe not that dark but i'm sure it'll tast great!|||Budweiser is a good chili beer. Bacon in chili also sounds good.|||use the darker beer, bacon sounds good it can't hurt to try. I would make it crispy though.|||Drink the Guinness, toss the Sam into the chili.

Chili is all about experimentation, so toss the bacon in there, too. How do I prevent frozen canned beer coming out when I open ?

I keep the frozen canned beer in the freezer until it's well

frozen (6 or 7 hours) and then take it out and heat in microwave for about 6 or 7 minutes. When I take it out

it smells kind of bad. (not the point lol) And when I open

How much does beer cost in Sydney and how much do you get for that?

Say beer in a typical pub in sydney. Also what size would you get for that compared to the average 'pint' you get here in England?|||The standard beer in NSW is the schooner - three quarters of a pint - although some people drink middies (half a pint). Most pubs will also sell you a pint if you ask. There is also a 7oz glass but who wants to drink out of thimbles?

A schooner of Tooheys, Reschs or VB will cost about $3.50 - $3.80. You might find it a little cheaper in some pubs and clubs and more expensive in others. Usually, the more expensive the pub looks, the more expensive the beer is. Low alocohol and mid-strength beers are cheaper than full strength.|||You've got some good answers above, so let me add that the ale known as Lord Nelson' Blood at the following pub is beyond words marvelous - worth the price of a specialty brewed ale!|||This site will give you serve sizes - price is comparable.
