Why does all beer taste the same to me?

I've been 21 for about a month now and boy has it been one big disappointment after another. I like mixed drinks and coolers but I don't know about beer. In the past month I've taken sips of 6 different beers/ales- Rolling Rock, Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat, Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, Spotted Cow, Blue Moon, and New Castle. They all tasted awful and they all tasted the same. What's wrong with me? People talk about beer like it's ice cream or something.|||Don't be silly. A lot of people don't like beer. I personally think all beer tastes like crap. There are so many cool drink ideas that aren't beers and exploring those would be a fun idea. Don't worry about it. I don't think I'll ever like beer either.|||yeah, um, wow, if all those tasted the same, you may have a problem with your taste buds*LOL* try Leinie's Berryweis (its almost a wine-cooler).

your taste preference could just be that you don't like beer (nothing wrong with that either, although my german blood sickens at the thought)|||Beer is an acquired taste. Most people that like beer at your age have been drinking it long before they were 21, and probably just to get drunk. If you drink more of it you'll be able to appreciate the separate tastes more.|||Don't beat yourself into it..drinking beer isn't that cool.stay original!|||do you like coffee? tea? coke? Pepsi? Beer is a learned taste and what you like is not what others may like. Some wine drinkers like a sweet wine and others dry. Find what tastes good for you and look for similar drinks. I like dark thick brews and a lot of people don't. There loss. Find what you like. and don't over do it and end up where you never wanted to go|||EtOHRx

Perhaps beer is not for you. For now drink what you like. Later, even perhaps years you can try beer again. Who knows perhaps then it will be the gratest thing you have ever tasted. It would be a boring world if we all like the same things.

I love beer and I have since my first sip. I am just the opposite of some others here. I think the hard booze (distilled alcohol: vodka, whiskey, rum, gin, etc.) all taste like crap.

Beer has a much broader flavor profile than those beverages. This leads to not only more choices but better drinking sessions. With beer nothing needs to be added. That is not true for distilled spirits. For those a mixer is required to choke it down. Very few people that drink distilled alcohol drink it straight. Which should tell you something about it's flavor.

Beer is a complex mix of grain and flower. The grain (malted barley) imparts sweetness, and cereal(cereal means grain) called malty or maltiness flavor. The flower (called hops) imparts bitterness and aromas. Some hops such as Cascade gives a citrusy-spicy not to it's aroma. Yeast is an important ingredient to all alcohol but none so important than beer.

Brewers yeast imparts many flavor notes that include buttery (diacetyl), veg-corn (dimethyl sulfide), to phenols that include clove. Esters are sweet aromas such as fruit that brewers yeast imparts to beer through it's fermentation activity. When these flavors come together in a nice beer it is angelic.

As with the nasty boozes, beer sometimes is an acquired taste but so is liver and other foods.

One draw back of beer is that it is filling being 90% water.

Enjoy|||All beer have some bitterness to them. It comes from the hops. Some are more bitter than others. For people who have been raised on Mountain Dew, Froot Loops and Pop Tarts, anything bitter is not going to taste good, at least at first. EVERYTHING has to be sweet, right!

You will begin to appreciate and like beer if and when you outgrow your sweet tooth and your tastes start maturing. You may also find real wine superior to the heavily sugared "wine" coolers about that same time.

Bert|||Than you don't like beer. All beers taste different and I would start off lighter than that if you want to like beer at all.|||try drinking real beer and then you will taste the differents

what you are drinking is not beer it is LAGER

beer is made with HOPS ( lager is not )

are you in the usa if so buy some steam anchor beer you can get it in bottles|||to me...beer is beer is beer is beer..it's all nasty but a cheap buzz|||Betty who cares what people say, Don't drink something that you don't like-Stick to mixed drinks and cooler, A lot of people don't care for beer....|||I didnt like beer when i first started drinking it too. My cousins were drinking it so i wanted to, but hated the taste at first. After trying to keep up with them in drinking games for a couple years i now like it a lot. In my experience i had to drink it for awhile before i started to enjoy the originality of beer. It is not that strong and is more convenient than mixing drinks every so often. Also i find the first beer is always the most flavourful one of the night after the first beer of the night they all seem to taste like pop or something.|||You just have to like it, or not. People enjoy drinking beer in many different ways: Some stick with their favourite brand, others like trying different tastes. Like wine, brandy and whisky, people with a fine sense of taste and a well developed palate will approach beer differently than others. I myself have tried different beers and decided to stick with one that i like.|||Try a light beer like bud light or miller light they don't have as much of an after taste.|||There are many types of beer. I suggest trying out lighter beers if you have not enjoyed their taste as of now. My personal favorite is Blueberry Ale, but you'll find many, many different types of beer that will be sure to satisfy your taste buds. (Maybe even try Bud Light? I think it is dirty, but is one of the best selling beers in the US).|||well for starters, you need to try some good beer, not that slop|||Compare Guiness Stout to Iron City- there is a difference, then drink a Bud or Corona with lime.|||try Woodchuck Granny Smith Draft Cider...YUM!

And yes, beer is definitely an aquired taste. Hope you find one you like!|||COORS... thats is the magic word. i had the same problem i would pay like $8.00 for a six pack of girly wine coolers and be mad that i couldve bought like a case of beer for $12.00. i tried coors a while back and now thats what i drink.its great youve gotta try it.

Drink one for me

yummmmm yummmmmm|||Beer is best drink chilled ! try something light . eat with nuts . try mix 1/2 beer with 1/2 sprite or cream sodas .|||It's because you've been trying bad beer....

If you don't like those beers then you need to try something a little lighter.

Try Heinekin or Corona!|||beer is an acquired taste... i have never acquired it... i too like mixed drinks and coolers and the such.. beer tastes bitter.. and i don`t like it..and theres nothing wrong with you..you just have a taste for the tastier things in life and that's all good..|||WICKED ALE%26gt;verrry different,,,|||Start drinking light beers (in color, not necessarily carbs). Miller Genuine Draft is a good beer that is near tasteless. After drinking plenty of watery beers, you will slowly be able to move up to darker beers. Beer is an acquired taste and it takes time to get used to it. Eventually, if you try hard enough, you'll be able to tell the slightest differences between beers.|||try some bud ice, or pepe lopez tequilla
