How many people does a keg of beer serve?

Im getting married and want to serve beer at the wedding. There could be between 50-90 people there with maybe 20-40 beer drinkers. Is one keg going to be enough for everyone to have 3 or 4 drinks? What about wine for the ladies? Should I just buy a couple of boxes?|||A half keg of Bud lt or something similar will cost $75 to $110. There are about 150 beers in a half keg. You can also get big bottles of wine (called a magnum), beringer is a good, inexpensive brand, for less than $10 each. I would get one red and 1 or 2 whites. Stay away from the boxed wine!!! I cannot emphasize this enough!! You should also get those little clear plastic cups for wine, people will drink less this way. If they are pouring wine into those big red cups, it will be gone before you know it.|||People tend to drink more at a free bar. It depends on what kind of wedding reception you are planning (party on or nice and short so you and your new wife can start the honeymoon). I agree with the guy who said two kegs, but you want to get red and white wine, as well as a good supply of soft drinks and water for those who don't drink or who are planning to be designated drivers. Seriously, if you are talking about a full keg you have plenty. Keep in mind, there are also such things as half keg's and quarter kegs. They are all called kegs.





Half keg will probably do. Quarter keg will not.





Boxes? You are buying wine by the box (LOL - that is the way I buy it).





Forget red. I suggest the pinks. White Zinfandel, White Grenache, that type thing. We are talking box here remember. More expensive stuff I do Whites and Reds, not with box though.

-Dio|||A keg holds 88 pints. (But work on 80 to alow for spillages) I wouldn't worry about getting 4 kegs, as usually they are sale or return. Ask and go to the supplier who is. Happy wedding!!|||i would say a keg of beer is enought for one..... if youre awesome! no, im just kidding. im sure whoever youre buying from can answer that for you.|||Let's start with a half keg hold 15.5 gallons, 1/4 keg 7.25, 1/6 keg is around 5 gallons. In other words, you can not buy a "whole" keg, and why would you want to as it would weigh over 250 pounds.

Hot day and a good band = 4 beers an hour (about average) would give you 2 hours worth of beer per half keg per 20 people (assuming it is something everyone will drink). Probably split it up between a light beer (Coors light) and something better (Killians is a personal favorite). As for Budweiser, you have the "I can't stand it" versus the "I only drink Bud" crowds, but they all seem to enjoy Yuengling.





And as for the wines, stay the hell away from the boxes of wine!!! Unless you are talking a full case, the plastic bags in a cardboard box scream "CHEAP BASTARD!!!"





Get nice large (3 or 4 liter) bottles of Taylor or the like if you want bulk wine.
