How do people get drunk from beer if the alcohol percent is only like 6% right?

I just don't understand why people choose to drink beer if the alcohol percent is so low. I know everybody gets drunk at different rates, but you still have to drink a lot of beer to get drunk then right? Doesn't the drink generally have to be 40% alcohol to get drunk from it in like one bottle/shot? Correct me if I'm wrong.

So answer that above and also answer: why do people choose to drink beer when they could drink whisky, tequila, vodka etc which all has higher alcohol %?|||y does it matter, people have different taste. And by the time you buy a bottle of whiskey, you can buy a case of beer. And whiskey doesnt get me drunk fast, beer is quicker for me even drinking it slow. So why dos it even Matter. I love the taste of beer. And I hate all hard liquors.

Good luck|||Because getting drunk isnt the only reason people drink alcohol, some people (me included) actually like the taste of beer and the enjoyment of drinking it and dont think of it as simply a way to get drunk, although it is nice! A shot of 80proof liquor and a 12oz beer roughly contain the same amount of alcohol, so if you dont get drunk on a shot you're not going to get drunk on 1 beer.|||-because you can drink the **** for like 8 hours without getting 2 sloppy that you cant walk.( so good for parties an club scene)

-your usually drunk after an hour of drinking it. (8 beers first hour is standard in NZ)

-good 4 drinking games

-more likely to fight on hard liquor

-its going to b a short night if your drinking straight liquor all night

-but if your mixing it with coke then you can go all night but that means that each glass is only 6% each anyway

-if your not drinking at least 18 beers in a night your weak

Tip-(after 8 hours of beer u should move onto harder liquor or you going to sleep)

but if u really want to see how you can get drunk off beer i would suggest coming to new zealand well show you how its done.|||Any chemist will tell you that Alcohol is the most harmful thing you can put in your body. It doesn't matter how much of it you drink. It's technically poison. I can get a buzz off of the one beer I have every now and then.

Now when it comes to drunks, they don't know when to stop. They stick to beer as a survival instinct. Also people who drink hard liqueur tend to get violent and end up in jail the next day. There's no fun in fighting with somebody all night.|||some people prefer the taste of beer over liquor so they can better control how much is in their system.

while it may be hard to keep a beer cold for an hour, most adult bodies can absorb about 12oz (355ml) of beer within that time period. meanwhile it can only absorb the alcohol of 50ml of hard liquor.|||Not everybody drinks to get slam hammered. Most beer drinkers enjoy a nice cool beer on a hot summer day for the taste and chill factor and not only for the effect. Those who are going for the effect will just down a dozen or so. Plus beer is a 'usually' a mellower drunk than hard alcohol.|||okay lets say your going out with your friends for drinks.. you take 10 shots your sloshed and no fun.. you drink 10 beers your still going strong and you've just got a good buzz going.. you have a limit to how much you can drink.. takes alot more beer to hit your limit than it does hard liquor.. when your actually of age to drink you don't go to the bar to get sloshed in the first 20 minutes|||Beer tends to be a lot cheaper then the other alcoholic drinks.

I don't think many people could get drunk from a can of beer, but if you drink like a 6 pack, you would be a little buzzed|||Well if you are drinking it to get drunk the gennetally you will drink it slot fast and in more quantities than other alchol with higher lvls|||because its easier and smoother in ur mouth to drink. tequilas and vodkas are mostly for mixed drinks and shots, beers are for holding in your hand and drinking it as u go.|||Everybody's tolerance for alcohol is different|||Because beer is delicious and the buzz you get from it is very chill and relaxing.|||Because it's delicious.|||Because it is a "cool" thing to do and not get drunk. Ask your local party grandmas|||The whole bar industry is based on the standard drink (as is law enforcement, and that's why it's regulated). A standard drink is 1.5 oz of spirits, 5 ounces of table wine, 8 oz of malt liquor or 12 oz of beer/cooler. At those volumes, at the standard percentage of alcohol by volume of each type of drink, they are all equal to each other with about 14 grams of alcohol per drink.

So, one beer is equal to one highball (a drink consisting of one type of spirit and one mix). So a can of Bud is the same amount of alcohol as a rye and coke poured as a single. Six beers has the same alcohol and the same effect as six shots. If you're in a rush to get drunk, drink cocktails which depending on the recipe can be as much as 5 standard drinks. A martini is usually two or three standard drinks.

It's this way by law because your body on average will eliminate one standard drink every hour. It's not what you drink or how much. It's how fast you drink. Drink more than one standard drink an hour and alcohol levels build in your bloodstream and you get drunk. The faster you drink the faster alcohol accumulates in your blood to intoxicating and toxic and the drunker you get.

Serving size is regulated to allow for responsible alcohol use; so for example, I went to a BBQ and had two Guinness beers on the deck, while grilling. I had two glass of red wine while eating, a glass of sweet white wine with dessert and after dinner I had a Scotch neat with a cigar back out on the deck. That's six standard drinks, but I had them over about six hours. At the end of the night, I was still sober and still legal to drive home. I switched between beer, wine and liquor, even between red and white wine and didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable. If I had those six drinks in fifteen minutes though, I'd have gotten drunk, maybe even pukey, because I'd have overloaded my body's ability to eliminate the alcohol and my blood alcohol level would have spiked.
