Can you substitute pepsi for beer in a recipe for onion ring batter?

I have a recipe for onion rings and it calls for 1 cup beer, but can be substituted with carbonated water. My question is do you think I can substitute with pepsi?|||All the no-s are mistaken. I have done this and it is good. It is also good with ginger ale or 7 Up or plain old club soda.|||It just doesn't sound good, you know what I mean?|||Yuk-no!

The sugar and color would be a big problem.|||I wouldn't try it, it just wouldn't taste good. I would omit the beer and increase the water.|||You can do that, but, did you know that cooking with beer disolves the beer, there is no alcohol after cooking with it. But Pepsi sounds like a really good idea.|||no I wouldn't|||Heck yea, I think it would give it a nice Carmel color and flavor. I have a southern cook book and they do all kinds of things with cola, fried chicken and vegges and cakes and cookies. Go for it !!

What is the name of the pitchers of beer they serve in brazil?

While on a trip to Brazil, I ordered a pitcher and they brought out a tall, circular tube filled with beer. On the bottom was a tap and you poured your own beer through them.

I am wondering what they are called and where I could purchase one. Any help is appreciated.|||Are you talking about this: http://images.quebarato.com.br/photos/bi鈥?/a> ?

If so, it's called "chopeira" (draft beer container, in English) or "torre de chopp" (tower of draft beer, in English). In Bondfaro, a website which searches prices of a product around all Internet, I found several stores in Brazil which sells it. There are several formats there, you just have to click on some and choose the best for you. Here's the website:

I found some few on Amazon.com too, mainly chromed: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u鈥?/a>

What is the difference in Lager Beer and Pilsner Beer?

What is the difference between Lager beer and Pilsner beer? Also what is the difference between ale and beer??|||The differences begin during the brewing process. Whether the beer is an ale or lager is defined by the type of yeast used in the brew and the temperature at which fermentation takes place. Ales are brewed with top-fermenting yeast which allows for rapid fermentation at warmer temperatures. Lagers are brewed with bottom-fermenting yeast which ferments more slowly and at colder temperatures. it is all just dependent on how it is brewed, each brewing process produces a different, unique beer. All are good!|||A Pilsner is a lager. Ales are beer, just not a lager. Ales and Lagers are brewed differently.

Here are some examples...

Lager: Pilsner, Bock, Black Lager, etc.

Ale: Stout, Porter, IPA, Wheat beers, etc

EDIT: Stay away from Wikipedia! Why do people put stock in what it says? People can put anything in there.

Go to allaboutbeer.com.|||Oh man - you need to get out and get your self a "sampler" from your local micro-brew pub. I was not only educated on this subject by my bar tender, I also got to sample each type of beer.

You can read all you want here, but if you experience it, you'll remember it.

Lagers, Ale's, IPA, wheat, stout, etc. The brew pub is your wikipedia of beer answers.|||Pilsner is a German style of lager. And in British terms ale and beer are the same thing. The diference between lager and ale is lager is fermented at a colder temperature and is aged before serving.|||Pilsener is a type of lager and ale is a type of beer. Check Wikipedia for more details.

How do I sneek my beer into church without the preacher finding out?

don't do that, it's disrespectful!

How to make your own beer labels?

Can anyone tell me how to make my own beer labels? More specifically what type of labels, size and where to purchase them.|||I make my beer labels with an inkjet printer on Epson high DPI paper. I attach them with a glue stick. Much better and cheaper than what you can buy. The combination doesn't run when it gets wet and the label slides right off after briefly soaking in warm water.

You can get the paper at places like Office Depot, Staples, etc.|||You can use either a graphics program or a word processing program to prepare the labels. Print them on bond paper or on prepared label stock. I glue the labels to the bottles with milk. The labels can be peeled off after you wet them thoroughly. If you want to buy label stock, go to a large stationary or computer store.|||There are beer making stores online, like http://www.homebrewit.com that specifically sell labels that you can customize to put on your own homemade beer. It's already pre-designed and sized for beer bottles and some come with nice graphics already on them. You can see specific labels here: http://www.homebrewit.com/aisle/1180. They're at a good price too depending on which kind you want.

Otherwise, if you're looking for something a little fancier, there are label creating programs you can buy to customize your label even more.

Is it safe to drink beer that has been in a house during termite tenting?

My house was fumigated a couple months ago and I left a case of beer in my closet. Is it safe to drink it?|||yes. But it may now give you cravings for wood.

Good luck|||Now the can is still unopened right???

Then its safe to drink it ... but please clear the can first! wipe it clean if possible wash it!

Enjoy your beer|||Anything, even beer, as long as it has been sealed will will fine, altho I do suggest you wipe the bottles down with a wet soapy cloth first, to avoid any of the residue from getting on your hands and therefore transferring to your face or mouth. You might want to check the freshness date on that beer tho....old beer doesn't taste as good.|||Wash the cans /bottles thoroughly|||Beer is Beer, is good, anytime providing it hasn't been opened

How long does it take for room temperature beer to get ice cold?

I'm throwing a party. I have a ton of beer in bottles and cans that I need to be cold for the party. However, I don't want to ice them too early and have all the ice melt off. How much time do I need to allow for the beers to get cold after being iced in coolers?|||i'd say at least 2 hours, and I'd put some in freezer or fridge just to have a batch of cold beer before hand...|||Your question depends on how large the containers are (its thermal mass), what they are made from (thermal transfer abilities), how hot they are when you put them in (starting temperature) and if there is enough ice to compensate. That being said putting them on ice will not make them ice cold. It will make them about 35F. It takes about 5-10 minutes for 12 ounce cans depending on how warm they were to begin, how many you put in at a time, and if you can get it totally surrounded by ice. Cans cool quicker then bottles as glass is an insulator and aluminum is very good and thermal transfer.

Keep it in a fridge until it is time to transfer it to coolers. Oh, and once you buy a new fridge take your old one and put it in the garage. It is what we know as a beer fridge.|||If you put the beer in the cooler with ice on it, it only takes 8 minutes for the beer to get cold and good enough to drink.!! bottoms up!|||Refrigerator - 45 minutes

Freezer - 20 minutes

Ice water - 5 minutes

Ice water w/ salt - 2 minutes|||The best way is to fridge the beer now if possible or at least keep them in the shade, and put them in the cooler with ice on top 30 minutes before the first one will be drunk.|||pour liquid nitrogen over them, and they'll be icey cold in an instant.
